The Star Wars Trilogy in Thirty Minutes is a play written by Patrick T. Gorman, based on the original Star Wars trilogy. Created in 1996 at the University of Southern California's School of Theatre, this play reduces these iconic films to thirty minutes of the famed characters fighting with wifflesabers and X-Wing chairs.
The Star Wars Trilogy in Thirty Minutes premiered at the 1996 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has returned for many years after as a festival favorite. The play was one of the opening productions of the French American Center in 2001. The production has given command performances for George Lucas at Skywalker Ranch. George Lucas commented to The Los Angeles Times, "I was quite impressed that they were able to find a way to make 'Star Wars' faster and more intense."[1] A production ran for a year in Los Angeles at the Coronet Theatre to rave reviews and notice from Variety, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, The Sunday Times, CNN, BBC, Fox, and many others.
